1. Make the first offer. The first offer gives you control of the negotiation. However, there are considerations that should be had before you make your estimate the first offer. These will be covered in a future blog post.

2. Create a strong anchor with your first estimate offer. Studies have shown that anchors strongly influence the outcomes of negotiations between skilled professionals. And in many cases, as many as  80% of the participants in the studies believed the anchor did not influence the outcomes at all.
